Minimum Qualifications Open to all qualified candidates: Possession of a Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State;
-AND-
a bachelor’s degree in nursing; and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.

Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the eligible list for the title (Community Mental Health Nurse list);

Transfer Opportunity for qualified employees of New York State: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Registered Nurse 2 Community (formerly Community Mental Health Nurse, Grade 19) and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent service in a title approved for transfer by the Department of Civil Service that is within two salary grades of the Grade 20 level.

? Although an office is in Orange County, the actual assignment will require working throughout Orange & Sullivan Counties therefore must be willing to travel and have valid driver’s license.

Duties Description • Supports the district as a nursing subject matter expert.
• Maintains expert current knowledge of nursing polocies, processes, standards, laws, rules, and regulations.
• Provides consultation and assistance to the residential teams to properly apply those standards to improve service delivery outcomes.
• Provides training and technical assistance.
• Conducts site visits and audits.
• Completes DQI survey readiness reviews/audits.
• Reviews exit conferences.
• Participates in the Nursing Standards of Practice & Health Service work group.
• Assists in developing SOPs, in accordance with regulatory and policy standards.
• Completes reviews of incidents and investigations (medical, falls, death), as assigned.
• Serves as a committee member to the following committees:
o Incident Review Committee
o Medication Task Force
o Mortality Review Committee
• Works collaboratively with the state operations teams to develop nursing related POCAs.
• Provides ongoing monitoring of service delivery documentation.
• Evaluates program needs, processes, effectiveness, trends, and outcomes.
• Provides coverage of and travel throughout the four counties of the Hudson Valley.
• May be trained to provide CPR training and certification to providers and sub-providers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and Hudson Valley DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
