Salary RangeFrom $20.10 to $20.10 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications Must have completed at least 12 credit hours of college study and be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program.

Each NYSDOT employee plays an important part in fulfilling the Department’s mission and goals, as we are one DOT working cohesively to ensure the state has a safe, efficient, balanced and environmentally sound transportation system.
The Student Assistant will report to professional level staff and perform various duties in the Office of Traffic Safety & Mobility, including assisting with:
• Sign face layouts for Regional and MO projects.
• Development of policies for various traffic control devices.
• Creation of templates for traffic engineering studies.
• Development of a training program for sign design.
• Tasks related to the creation of a new NYS Supplement to the MUTCD.
• Technical documents supporting Statewide policies, guidance, and manuals pertaining to traffic signals and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
• Researching state-of-the-art and innovative solutions for traffic management and operations to best leverage data and technology.
• Data collection and analysis for work zone speed enforcement and other TSMO programs.
• QA/QC of the Enterprise Asset Management System for Traffic Signals and ITS.
• Reporting and analytics for Traffic Signals and ITS inventory, inspection, and lifecycle analysis.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
