Minimum Qualifications *Although this position will report to Main Office, the incumbent may be assigned to work from a regional location.

To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.

The minimum requirements for taking the examination are: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55 b/55 c service as:

Either A. a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 2 (currently Maintenance Supervisor 2 (Motor Equipment));

Or B. a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1 (currently Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Motor Equipment)).

Qualifying Experience for Appointment from the Eligible List

After one year of qualifying service as a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 2, or two years of qualifying service as a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1, successful candidates will be qualified for appointment from the eligible list.

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Department of Transportation of the Department’s intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Motor Equipment Specialist in NYS DOT’s Main Office, Fleet Administration & Support.

A permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for Motor Equipment Specialist position consists of candidates who have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as EITHER a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 2 (currently Maintenance Supervisor 2 (Motor Equipment)); OR as a Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1 (currently Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Motor Equipment)).

Duties Description As a Motor Equipment Specialist, duties would include, but not be limited to:

- Fill in as necessary for the Motor Equipment Manager in their absence.

- Create, or assist in the creation of birth records for DOT (Department of Transportation) and other state agencies equipment in the current Fleet Management System.

- Create, or assist in the creation of Fleet Maintenance Instructions (FMI’s) to improve in the work flows and efficiencies for all aspects of the DOT Fleet program.

- Assist in the creation of reports and dash boards. These reports would be developed to assist with operational efficiency around procurement, surplus and inventory management.

- Provide oversite and support of both the mobile and web applications of AMS across agencies.

- Review of equipment records in AMS for any necessary updates and data cleansing.

- Provide first line support for issues that end users may be experiencing in AMS. Engage ITS and/or AssetWorks when necessary, through their respective supporting ticket system.

- Oversee and support DOT and other agencies in ensuring that both equipment and parts are coded to the agreed upon standard.

- Oversee the entire fuel operation for the Department, including the Fuel terminals, WEX card administration and trouble shooting.

- Liaison of information between the Main Office and the regions-including presenting at statewide trainings/meetings.

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
