Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Program Aide, Grade 13 (formerly known as Administrative Aide, Grade 13, or Agency Program Aide, Grade 13).

Transfer Opportunity: New York State employee with one or more years of permanent or contingent-permanent service in title at Grade 11 or above, and eligible for transfer to Program Aide, Grade 13, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have progressively responsible professional work experience in the administrative support of an investigative office with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, and a strong command of prioritization that supports efficient office operations. They will also have the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.

Duties Description The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) is an investigative office within the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Nutrition. This position will have responsibilities related to the review of vendor applications for participation in the New York State Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Responsibilities will include new vendor background checks; assisting with field investigations and preparations for hearings; reviewing WIC vendor application documents and contracts to ensure completeness with Vendor Management Agencies (VMA); verifying the validity of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Authorization Numbers; ensuring the vendor applicant is in compliance with other State Agencies; performing credit checks; performing paraprofessional duties and providing programmatic, technical, and investigative assistance to management, supervisory personnel, and field staff; researching other sources of information for investigative purposes and technical support in the form of internet searches.
