For appointment to the Senior Editor Audit Reports, you must have a Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience editing or writing reports based on source documents prepared by others.

Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1, 52.6, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.

For a 52.6 transfer to a Senior Editor Audit Reports, salary grade 21, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 52.6 title, a bachelor's degree or higher; AND three years of professional experience editing or writing reports based on source documents prepared by others.

Duties Description Audit Report and Publication Development
• Edits and reviews drafts of audit reports and other publications to ensure organizational and grammatical correctness, logic, correlation of content and layout, propriety of style and tone, and general readability and clarity.
• Ensures all audit reports and publications are prepared in a timely manner and meet Division standards for format and design.
• Supervises final production and distribution process for reports, newsletters and other publications, and tracks required performance metrics.
• Effectively communicate with the Report Development Unit and other content creators/owners to:
o Constructively present policies, priorities, issues and concerns.
o Coordinate workload and workflow within content owners.
• Maintains and updates detailed processes, procedures, and editing checklists for report and publication production and distribution.

Training and Research
• Develops and administers training programs designed to improve the report writing and publication production ability of Division staff.
• Provides assistance to audit staff to resolve report production problems.
• Research and take training on publication and distribution tools and train staff.

Supervision: The Senior Editor Audits Reports oversees one Multimedia Production Program Specialist 1and one Program Aide as assigned.

Telecommuting:
The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period.
