Minimum Qualifications Education:
Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada.
AND
Experience:
Six (6) years of administrative, consultative, or supervisory experience in a mental health program, two years of which must have been managerial experience, including one or more of the following:
1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position as administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
OR
2. One (1) year of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery system for State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in two (2) or more of the following areas: program development, management procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and intergovernmental relations.
Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.
Duties Description The Director of Children’s Inpatient & Outpatient Services serves as an essential member of WNYCPC’s Executive Leadership Team. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director and administrative cabinet, the Director of Children’s Inpatient & Outpatient Services will design, develop, evaluate, and ensure the effective operations of WNYCPC’s children’s inpatient and outpatient services including:
• Ensure patient care maintains a focus on recovery and community integration within a culturally competent framework
• Participate in the development of WNYCPC’s short and long term goals.
• Establish policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
• Oversee admissions and discharge process
• Monitor and oversee staffing, assignments, and work schedules to ensure quality patient care
• Ensure service delivery complies with OMH guidelines, values and regulatory agency standards
• Maintain working relationships with external organizations to maximize resources and implement program goals
• Supervise and coordinate activities of subordinate managers
Additional Comments Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center (WNYCPC); a Joint Commission accredited NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, is recruiting a Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Operations (DDPC 1 – Operations) who will serve as the Director of Children’s Inpatient & Outpatient Services.
WNYCPC’s mission is to provide effective culturally competent treatments which support hope and recovery for children and adolescents with significant psychiatric and behavioral health challenges. WNYCPC’s vision is to be a valuable and respected behavioral health organization providing the highest quality services. WNYCPC, located in West Seneca, NY, provides comprehensive behavioral health services to children and adolescents (ages 4 – 18) with serious emotional disturbances who live in 19 counties in Western New York. WNYCPC inpatient services include three units, a transition team, rehabilitation services, and discipline departments, such as social work and psychology. The outpatient services include an outpatient clinic, Day Treatment Program, Health Home Management Coordination (HHMC) and Mobile Mental Health Consultation Team, and Mobile Integration Team (MIT).
