Salary RangeFrom $84156 to $106454 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: Four years of experience in environmental conservation in a professional or technical capacity or professional teaching of environmental education AND three years of experience teaching about or interpreting the natural world.
Substitution: Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental education, environmental interpretation, environmental science, natural history, natural sciences, or a closely related field may substitute for four years of the general experience
Duties Description Oversee the Bureau of Environmental Education's (BEE) Capital and Repair and Infrastructure projects and funding for Environmental Education Centers and summer camps.
Manage the BEE’s Environmental Protection Fund and New York Works budgets; track and support contracts, agreements, amendments for the Environmental Education Fellowship Program, Friends Groups, Environmental Education Interns, and the New York State Conservation Corps.
Administer BEE’s Temporary Revocable Permit requests.
Serve as the primary liaison between the BEE and Division of Operations, tracking projects and annual work plans.
Act as lead contact for all BEE facility projects to ensure the needs of the bureau are met and identify concerns when they arise.
Act as communication, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Health and Safety Coordinator.
Serve on the Outdoor Recreation Promotions Working Group.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
