Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services
Duties Description Ability to perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the diagnosis and repair of plumbing systems; experience in carpentry trade preferred; experience in repairing door locks, set up for door installations, and repair of faulty hardware; ability to troubleshoot, repair and install commercial and residential hardware; Ability to install control and electrical distribution, including wiring, switches, relays, interior and exterior lighting, and fixture ballasts; experience in floor tiles, treads, and handrails; experience in ceiling tiles and drywall repair; repair and troubleshoot issues with residential appliances; ability to competently use various trade tools including computers, hand-held devices, testing instruments, hand tools, small and large power tools, cutting tools, large operating equipment, and electrical and mechanical equipment and devices; basic mathematical skills and blue print and schematic literacy required; ability to perform physical tasks including lifting 100 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, carrying ladders and materials; ability to work in areas of heat and cold (indoors and outdoors), working from ladders, scaffolds and lifts, work at heights 35'+ and in confined spaces; working knowledge of relevant building and safety codes (OSHA and ADA); plan and execute assignments with considerable independence, work overtime as required for emergencies and campus events; ability to work with a computerized maintenance management system; ability to wear a negative pressure respirator, pass a fit test and use other personal protective equipment related to the job duties; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing when assigning work and providing instructions; ability to determine repairs and replacement of equipment, plan work, organize apprentices and helpers with materials and equipment for projects and maintain stocked inventory of materials required; willingness to attend training on new equipment and building systems; Valid New York State Driver's license required.
