Minimum Qualifications Eligible for transfer, reassignment or reachable for appointment from the appropriate list.
Open Competitive: four years of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
Substitution: an associate degree in electronic technology, or successful completion of a two-year technical professional certification program in the electronics field may be substituted for two years of the required experience; OR graduation from a high school technical electronics education program recognized by the New York State Education Department as meeting the standards for technical education may be substituted for one year of the required experience. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Duties Description Independently install, test, diagnose, maintain, service, repair, replace, or otherwise work on a variety of electronic systems and equipment. Work tasks may involve using ladders, scaffolding, or blueprints and utilizing hand, power, and diagnostic tools. You may supervise and/or inspect work of subordinate staff and Incarcerated Individuals.
