Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction.

Duties Description The Trades Generalist is responsible for ensuring Operations staff performs construction tasks safely and in compliance with NYS building codes, national electric codes, and OSHA, and PESH safety rules. The Trades Generalist provides knowledge of these regulations, periodic inspections of buildings, infrastructure, power tools, ladders, lock out/tag out, fall protection, safety awareness training, and exposure limits which are crucial to protect the safety of employees and the public who utilize our facilities. The Trades Generalist is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of existing buildings that are annually inspected by the Office of Fire Inspection and Control, and recreational facilities used by the public. Additionally, this person directs all the maintenance and structural work at other facilities such as fishermen's access sites, universally assessable features, motor vehicle bridges, snowmobile bridges, foot bridges, decks, lean-to's, and observation towers.

Additional duties include the repair and maintenance of buildings and other structures; operate and complete routine maintenance on various pieces of construction equipment; operate and transport heavy equipment; supervise and assign jobs for crews and oversee the work being done by contractors, purchase supplies and materials in accordance with Department policy and procedures; and complete daily reports.
