Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
•8+ years’ experience in Human Resources/Personnel for a government-based organization, with 5 being in a supervisory/management position

Duties Description The New York State Senate is seeking candidates to fill the position of Assistant Personnel Officer. This is a full-time position, located in Albany, NY.

The Assistant Personnel Officer is responsible for assisting the Personnel Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Senate’s Personnel Office. This includes managing employee relations, benefits administration and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.

In this dynamic role, you will:

•Assist the Personnel Officer with the management and daily operations of Administrative, Processing, Time & Attendance, and Benefits Units, as well as providing, support, training and guidance to all units daily
•Assist Senate Offices with inquiries related to routine and complex questions regarding personnel procedures, services and employment papers
•Review employment documentation for accuracy and internal policy rules
•Maintain accurate employment records and documentation
•Generate high-level reports and analytics as needed
•In collaboration with the Personnel Officer create and revise internal policies and procedures
•Assist in the investigation and resolution of workplace disputes
•Oversee coordination of mandatory training sessions and relevant records
•Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
•Serve as the Senate Personnel technology contact
•Lead, advise, or support others when assigned to special projects
•Other duties as assigned by the Personnel Officer

Additional Comments The salary range is $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience and education.
