Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be in title or on the Civil Service eligible list for this location or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service.

NON-COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in a human services field*

*For the purpose of these qualification, a degree in a human service field includes the professional disciplines of audiology, community mental health, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational counseling, social work, speech/language pathology and therapeutic recreation (including concentrations in art, creative art, dance, drama, music, or physical education.) Also included are related academic disciplines associated with the study of human behavior (e.g., gerontology, human services, sociology, speech communication); or human skills development (e.g., counseling/guidance, education, human development.) Examples of non-qualifying degrees include but are not limited to: criminal justice, political science, liberal arts, and business.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Function as a team member with the goal of ongoing development of integrated employment opportunities. Assist in the design and implementation of vocational exploration opportunities and the assessment of social and vocational skills and interests. Assist in the development of community employment opportunities. Provide direct training in a variety of vocational skills for program participants. Provide transportation and direct support for service recipients as they work in community employment settings. Responsibilities may include implementation of the Day Hab services and SEMP waiver services and collaboration with community groups, businesses, and agencies to promote employment. Assist with staff training to share materials and knowledge of integrated training employment initiatives. Selected candidate will be required to attend OPWDD
sponsored Eleversity Training. They will also complete service and payroll documentation as well as provide good communication to fellow team members and employers. They will have a case load to complete monthly notes on SEMP and Day Hab services. Clinical input, documentation, and attendance at Life Plan annual and reviews is a requirement of this position. The position will
require flexibility with beginning and end times, depending on the habilitation services and support needs. The selected candidate must have the ability to drive from one location to another and
have ability to transport people in multiple sized vehicles. The person will be assigned to the Livingston Day Services site.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
