Duties Description The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control/State Liquor Authority (ABC/SLA) is seeking applicants for the position of Special Assistant who will serve as the Public Information Officer. The incumbent of this position will work to prepare and/or distribute materials regarding the programs, policies, and activities of ABC/SLA to the general public, media, and other relevant audiences.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Draft press releases, informational materials, publications, and social media announcements targeted to the regulated community, the general public, and other audiences.
• Serve as the Agency spokesperson, maintain relations with media, and cultivate new contacts to provide accurate and timely information on Agency policies and initiatives.
• Prepare speeches, briefings, and other informational materials for the Chair.
• Prepare social media plans and draft content for ABC/SLA’s social media platforms.
• Conduct outreach to necessary parties as needed.
• Work with various Agency staff to ensure the implementation of an integrated communications.
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.

Additional Comments NOTE:
• Travel may be required (approximately 15%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
