Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Active and reachable score on the Civil Service list for Nursing Station Clerk
OR
Eligible for transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Examples of such titles include Office Assistant 1 and Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding
NY HELPS min quals, One year of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or one year of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or one year of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.
NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply (see minimum qualifications above). At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making permanent non-competitive appointments.
At a future date (within one year of appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Duties Description The Nurse Station Clerk will be assigned to a nursing unit where there is daily contact with the residents. In this capacity, the Clerk will screen communications, provide information to nursing and clinical staff, process physician orders, complete orders and requisitions, prepare and maintain medical records and logs, process diagnostics reports and correspondence, and other miscellaneous clerical duties as required.
Additional Comments This position is eligible for a $3400.00 downstate adjustment.
