Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience in business processes in a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other software applications.
Ability to foster effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and vendors.
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
Three (3) years of full-time experience working in Procurement, Contracts and/or Accounts Payable, preferably in the public sector.
Experience in SUNY, higher education, or similar environment with knowledge of NYS procurement regulations and New York State Finance Law.

Duties Description The Purchasing Assistant at SUNY Old Westbury reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Business Operations.

This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position and requires onsite presence during all working hours and is not eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements.

Responsibilities include:

processing purchase orders, conducting bids, RFPs and related procurement activities from solicitation to close-out, with emphasis on expanding campus-wide use of Minority and Woman-owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) and/or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses (SDVOB). This will include providing outreach to the MWBE and SDVOB supplier community, establishing a campus strategy, and building positive sustainable relationships between campus departments and MWBE and SDVOB vendors;
assisting vendors/contractors to ensure compliance with MWBE and SDVOB guidelines and reporting requirements;
utilizing SUNY Finance & Management System, PRISM system for MWBE data management, and other databases and reporting tools;
support managing the campus' credit card programs, which currently include three types of cards: Procurement-Card, Travel-Card and NET (Non-Employee Travel) Card;
supporting the Purchasing Department as necessary to ensure purchases comply with all SUNY, campus and NYS requirements ensuring timelines and sound business practices;
other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments Salary Range: Up to $60,000 commensurate with experience and education (plus location pay $3,400.00)
