Salary RangeFrom $65001 to $82656 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field (such as social sciences and public health), and two years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.
A master’s degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one year of the experience. A doctoral degree in one of the above fields may substitute for the two years of specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience in all aspects of being on a large project; proficient in Microsoft Office; skilled and experienced in delivering technical information to various audiences; and working in a public health or nutrition program.
Duties Description This position is in the Division of Nutrition, Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs, Food Delivery and Vendor Management Section (FDVMS) of the New York State Women Infant and Children (WIC) Program. The Project Assistant will be engaged in various activities related to the design and implementation of a United States Department of Agriculture grant-funded WIC Shopping Improvement Project. The project will require the use of available data on current shopping practices, including survey data and the current Blueprint for Online Shopping, and pilot project lessons learned to make recommendations for improvement based on the information obtained.
The Project Assistant will be part of a team, assisting in project communication plans, and work in collaboration with team members to develop and execute recruitment and engagement plans for key stakeholders, including WIC participants and their families, WIC vendors, and WIC office staff. The incumbent will work in collaboration with Bureau colleagues to collect and analyze data to inform the State’s development and execution of shopping solutions to increase benefit utilization and participant engagement.
Additional Comments One full-time temporary project position.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
