Minimum Qualifications Must be able to descend vertical surfaces while wearing a harness and carrying equipment; and have six months experience working at great heights.

• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Eight years of experience with NYS Parks, or 4 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, that includes at least one (1) year of supervisory experience within the OPRHP Rope Access Program.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Agency Safety & Health Director 1, the Rope Access Coordinator will oversee the development, implementation, and administration of the Rope Access program across New York State Parks. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the Agency’s Rope Access program, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and SPRAT.
• Develop, implement, and deliver a comprehensive rope access program, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Inspect worksites and facilities, observe operations and work practices, and evaluate safety conditions and equipment usage.
• Ensure that hazard identification and control processes are consistently implemented to achieve safe working conditions and practices.
• Provide expert guidance to regional management on rope access and rock scaling protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate rope access team activities, including scaling operations , and communicate with regional managements and relevant outside agencies.
• Develop and deliver necessary safety training to appropriate staff. Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all training, certifications, and program activities.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain First Aid / CPR / AED certifications as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the incumbent to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a SPRAT level 2 certification as a term and condition of employment.
• Must obtain OSHA 10 hour training and Game of Logging certification, or equivalent chainsaw training.
• Must obtain Project Management Training.
• Must be able to pass medical clearance and a physical exam.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
