Salary RangeFrom $137457 to $173664 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Law degree from an accredited law school; admission to, and member in good standing of, the New York State Bar; and seven years of relevant post-bar experience.
Duties Description Reporting directly to the General Counsel within the New York State Division of Human Rights (DHR), the Deputy Counsel (Director of Policy & Regulatory Affairs) will oversee various Commissioner's Office Units such as Housing Investigations, Prosecutions and Enforcement. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees and performs related leadership & supervisory duties for the Prosecutions & Enforcement Unit
• Oversees legislative & regulatory issues, providing consultation on and drafting agency legislation & regulations
• Liaises with Executive Chamber and Policy staff
• Assists in the implementation of enacted legislation, regulations, and Agency initiatives
• Provides consultation and performs additional duties associated with the Office of General Counsel
• Research, advise, report on, and operationalize special projects under Executive direction
• Draft intra and inter agency memoranda and guidance documents
• Address legal inquiries from Division business units
• Serve as Office of General Counsel representative on agency work groups

This position is eligible for $3,400 location pay.
