Salary RangeFrom $100845 to $127474 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant full-time work experience in issues relating to building decarbonization, energy efficiency, renewable energy development, sustainability reporting, public policy, asset management, capital projects, and/or strategic planning. An advanced degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, environmental policy, public policy, or a closely related field preferred.
Substitutions:
Nine years of relevant full-time experience.
OR
Associate’s degree and seven years of relevant full-time experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills; ability to translate complex concepts to inform decision making.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to independently coordinate and lead multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality and follow-through.
• Demonstrated experience supporting management, leading projects through ambiguity, adapting to change and shifting priorities.
• Ability to understand track analytical details while balancing large scale program objectives.
• Experience managing public procurement processes, defining scopes or work and/or managing teams of consultants.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Duties Description The incumbent will report to the Deputy Commissioner for Sustainability and Resiliency, and will be responsible for the following:
• Support development of building decarbonization strategies for OGS properties: Work with key partners to ensure effective communication and reporting up on high profile projects; Collaborate with OGS leadership on execution and oversight of decarbonization projects; Track and share best practices related to decarbonization strategies; Provide deliverable review from vendors and consulting teams and coordinate feedback from OGS stakeholders.
• Serve as thought partner on opportunities for building decarbonization and climate-focused infrastructure.
• Coordinate with state and federal partners to identify and support funding opportunities for decarbonization and renewables projects (i.e. IRA, IIJA, Bond Act, NY Cap and Invest, etc.)
• Coordinate OGS responses to state and federal requests for information.
• Support development of renewable energy strategy with other state agencies and authorities.
• Identify and implement measures for improved data tracking both to identify emissions reductions opportunities and to track progress over time.
• Provide support to interagency efforts through GreenNY Council to share progress, best practices, and coordinated efforts in meeting emission reductions and renewable energy goals.
• Support communications related to OGS GHG reporting, decarbonization and renewable energy projects: Provide timely responses to requests for information related to internal and external communications; Draft communications documents, including summary presentation decks, related to decarbonization and energy projects for a variety of audiences, including OGS leadership, local stakeholders, and the general public.
• Deliver data-driven recommendations to address complex problems: Oversee project or consultant teams as they conduct research, expert interviews, data gathering and analysis; Work with team members across the organization to generate insights from research and turn insights into compelling presentations or memos for key stakeholders.
• Manage multi-stakeholder project teams toward a common set of outcomes and deliverables: Support OGS business units and executive team in aligning OGS operations with decarbonization goals outlined in Executive Order 22; Directly develop or support team members in developing project scopes and workplans, adjusting the timing of key deliverables and milestones as needed; Proactively manage senior leadership on project timelines, deliverables, and risks.
• Build collaborative relationships that drive greater efficacy in project delivery: Support other divisions within OGS to achieve program goals.
• Prepare necessary contract documents, RFP’s, reports, and presentations as needed for project implementation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
