Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have two years of experience in the operation of power shovels, cranes, and/or other heavy equipment. Possession of a valid New York State operator’s license appropriate for the type of vehicles operated and possession of a valid operator qualification certificate from a certification service agency approved by OSHA for cranes and shovels.
CDL B with Air Brake Endorsement is required.
Duties Description Operates the largest and most complex self-propelled equipment used in the construction and maintenance of canal structures; excavates; grades; repairs slope failures; drives and removes pilings; lifts and moves heavy machinery and equipment; performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, cleaning and replacing bulbs, tires and filters; cleans and paints equipment and vessels; performs routine repairs to keep equipment operating in the field; may operate equipment generally assigned to lower level equipment operators; may supervise work crew.
