Duties Description Perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled, semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities vehicles and equipment. Ability to perform diagnostic scans of onboard computers for campus equipment; ability to use tools associated with diagnostic, testing and repairs of utility vehicles equipped with computer circuit boards, fuel injectors and advanced hydraulics; ability to perform mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs for a variety of equipment including utility vehicles, trucks, snowplows, salters, shop equipment, generators, pumps, and other small engine items. Perform work in the prevention, control, and elimination of insects, vermin and other pests from the buildings and surrounding areas; inspect areas of infestation; use the most effective insecticides, rodenticides, baits, traps, etc., for exterminating pests as required; keep records of equipment usage, work schedules, and exterminating operations performed.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, fuel injection systems, and hydraulics. Repair blown hydraulic hoses, defective pumps, valves, leaking rams, and hydraulic tanks.
• Ability to use pressure gauges both mechanical and electronic to diagnose solenoids and line pressure.
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment to perform snow removal, excavation, and using a lift for tree removal and pruning.
• Organize apprentices and helpers with materials and equipment for projects and maintain stocked inventory of materials required. Ability to review blueprints and diagrams for projects.
• Ability to utilize hand-held devices, testing instruments, hand tools, small and large power tools, cutting tools, as well as large operating equipment and electrical and mechanical equipment and devices.
• Responsible for the control of rodents, roaches, ants, fleas, ticks, stinging and biting insects within or associated with structure. Provide a timely response and follow an appropriate action plan for pest and exterminator work orders and calls.
• Maintain accurate records of pesticide applications for both the University and annual DEC reporting requirements. Record keeping duties to include submitting all data required by DEC for annual pesticide use report by date due (typically February 1st)
• Maintain inventory for IPM, providing Supervisor sufficient time and information to restock, as necessary.
• Will supervise staff when necessary for Pest management work, special events and projects.
• Vehicle logs and vehicle inspection reports are to be completed as required by the Grounds Department.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting one hundred pounds, carrying ladders and materials.
• Working from ladders, scaffolds and aerial lifts, work at heights 35’+ and in confined spaces and stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. This position may be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Valid New York State driver's license required.
