Duties Description The Department of Psychology at SUNY Old Westbury is seeking a part-time psychology tutor who will assist psychology majors with inferential statistics, APA-style writing, and general content from the major areas within psychology. The tutor will be expected to work with students one-on-one and in groups, both in person and remotely through Zoom. We are especially interested in someone with strong skills in research methods and statistical analysis. A successful tutor will work with instructors so that they can provide much needed support to struggling students. This is a part-time, college year, as needed, hourly paid position.

Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related field.
Teaching or tutoring experience.
Demonstrated excellent person-to-person communication skills; a positive attitude, patience, dependability, and a strong desire to help students gain confidence and increase their competence in research methods and psychology.
Proficient in Excel and SPSS.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in psychology.
Teaching or tutoring experience in research methods and/or psychology.
Knowledge in other software statistical programs, such as R and SAS.
