The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description NATURE OF WORK & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize and implement recreation therapy treatment and leisure education programs for caseload patients, and serve as a member of an assigned treatment team. Chart TR assessments, progress notes, discharge summaries and anecdotal notes for caseload patients. Plan, organize and conduct leisure education and recreation participation programs for patients and their families/visitors. Plan, organize and lead wellness/exercise and aquatic programs/orientations for community participants, outpatients and employees. Plan, organize and lead/supervise arts program, concerts and other special events open to patients, volunteers, visitors, staff and the general public. Provide TR services on assigned weekends, evenings and holidays, and other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
Either 1. A bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation;
Or 2. A bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education AND one year of experience in planning and administering a therapeutic recreation program which involved developing and coordinating therapeutic recreational activities for geriatric patients/residents, individuals with developmental disabilities, individuals with psychiatric disabilities, individuals that are physically challenged, or individuals in treatment for chemical dependency;
