Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.

Reporting to the Chief Digital Transformation, Data and/or Artificial Intelligence Officers, the Lead Data Scientist will play a crucial role in extracting valuable insights from complex datasets to drive strategic decision-making and solve challenging business problems. The incumbent will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of data science projects, from understanding business needs to deploying and monitoring machine learning models.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, marketing) to identify business opportunities and translate them into data science problems.
• Design and implement data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing pipelines to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Explore, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms for tasks such as prediction, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and iterate to improve accuracy and effectiveness.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences through visualizations, presentations, and reports.
• Deploy and monitor machine learning models in production environments, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and related technologies.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data science within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree and six years of relevant experience*

*Ph.D. may substitute for one year of specialized experience

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
