Duties Description Under the direction of the Park Manager at Sterling Forest State Park, the selected candidate’s duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Performing grounds maintenance involving the use and maintenance of hand tools and gas-powered equipment. Tasks include mowing, weed whacking, and trimming hedges.
• Assist higher-level personnel in various semi-skilled building repair tasks including but not limited to carpentry (minor wood replacement and building repairs), masonry (pouring sidewalks and pads), electrical (changing switches and light fixtures, light bulbs, and breakers), and plumbing tasks (faucet changing and bathroom winterizing).
• Must be comfortable working independently (following instruction from higher-level staff), as well as in a team setting.
Minimum Qualifications No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess skills in both maintenance and outdoor work.
• Must be able to work at heights from ladders.
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
