Duties Description Research Scientist 8 at NYSPI duties include:
o Co-lead several large-scale, multi-site psychiatric genetics studies.
o Oversee data stewardship and ensure data integrity across projects.
o Develop and implement analytic strategies for research initiatives.
o Facilitate collaboration between institutions involved in psychiatric genetics research.
o Coordinate efforts with external partners to enhance research outcomes.
o Mentor junior investigators and fellows in translational epidemiology.
o Teach and supervise undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate students in research methodologies.
o Foster a collaborative academic environment to promote professional growth.
o Conduct high-quality research in psychiatry, mental health, or neuroscience focused on advancing knowledge and treatment.
o Lead and develop interdisciplinary research programs that integrate psychiatric genetics, neurophysiology, and computational methods.
o Identify and secure grant funding to support scholarly research initiatives and projects.
o Prepare and submit grant proposals to funding agencies.
o Actively contribute to NYSPI’s research mission, particularly in psychiatric genomics and sleep medicine.
o Stay current with developments in the field to inform research directions and methodologies.
o Stabilize and enhance internal research capacity by providing advanced methodological expertise.
o Lead efforts to develop and implement innovative data analysis techniques within the unit.
o Address the unit’s data analysis needs by collaborating with external partners and utilizing advanced quantitative genetic methods.
o Provide leadership in the analysis of genomic, epidemiologic, and computational research projects.
o Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
o Present research outcomes at relevant conferences and seminars to share knowledge with the scientific community.
Minimum Qualifications Candidate must have a Ph.D. and nine years of professional experience, including specific research and teaching assignments in an appropriate field.

This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
