Duties Description Working within the Office of Data & Analytics and under the general direction of the Data Analyst 2, the Data Analyst 1 will perform tasks related to data analysis, data interpretation, and data management in support of agency operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support the creation, development, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and general data analysis deliverables that are used to identify trends, deliver insights, monitor agency operations, and evaluate the impact of agency initiatives.
• Support the creation of agency-wide best practices and standards for data analysis and data management.
• Fulfill customer requests for ad-hoc report requests, data extracts, or general data analysis requests.
• Analyze, clean, and interpret data from disparate sources for inclusion into written reports, measuring data findings against the criteria, critical benchmarks, and objectives identified and defined by Executive Leadership and in alignment with the agency’s strategic plan.
• Evaluate data sources to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability.
• Perform data extraction, aggregation, and quality checks.
• Work with various stakeholders to develop and build models in support of analytic use cases; identify trends and patterns in data sources.
• Perform the tasks of major assignments related to the analysis and interpretation of data used in the development of recommendations for improved performance.

Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: bachelor’s degree and either: satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship or two years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.

*Substitution: A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of the specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience.
