Duties Description ASSIGNMENT: The Wide Area Networking (WAN) Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive statewide data, voice, and video network, including the evaluation, purchase, installation, management, documentation, and troubleshooting of network systems. This position requires expertise in fiber and copper cabling, network routing and switching, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, subnetting, VLAN, VRF, DHCP, VPN, Firewall, VoIP, and SIP technologies. The engineer will manage and optimize network performance across multiple sites, implement routing protocols such as OSPF, RIP, BGP, IS-IS, SPBM, and IPsec, and ensure reliability and security through effective monitoring and configuration management. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Extreme Networks switches and routers, strong understanding of structured cabling systems, and proficiency in at least one programming language—PHP preferred—for automation and network scripting. Familiarity with network monitoring and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and Cacti is highly desirable, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to document and communicate network architecture and procedures clearly.
 Minimum Qualifications JG-28 - Network System Engineer III - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.  Salary: $110,853

JG-26 - Network System Engineer II - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment. Salary: $94,386 
OR
JG-23 - Network System Engineer I - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment. Salary: $84,659 
OR
JG-21 - Network System Technician III Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment. Salary: $76,112 
OR
JG-18 - Network System Technician II - Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment. Salary: $64,971
