Duties Description SUNY Geneseo is seeking a new team member to join our Facilities Services department as a Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics). In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, service, and repair of electronic equipment for the campus. You’ll be responsible for responding to calls in a timely fashion and assisting the campus professionally and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics), SG-12 classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for a Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics), SG-12, or be transfer eligible.

For NYS HELPS Eligibility
You must meet ONE of the following qualifications:
1) Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment; OR
2) An associate degree in a related field and two years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Comments We are accepting applicants for NYS HELPS appointments; you do not need to be on the Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics) list to be appointed. You must meet the qualifications as outlined in the “Required Qualifications” section.

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
