Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position, which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is seeking qualified candidates for a General Mechanic, G-12 position. This is a temporary/hourly position in the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement, located in West Brentwood. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform general plumbing maintenance work including the installation, alteration and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, ventilating, heating control, water, and drainage systems.
Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors and cuts openings required to accommodate pipe and fittings; and/or replace and repair various plumbing fixtures and appliances, such as sinks, shower baths, and commodes.
Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment and materials of the plumbing trade.
Ability to plan, and lay out work. Read and interpret plans and blue prints, and plan the associated work accordingly.
Additional Comments The Pilgrim Special Project team travels, based upon assignment, between facilities within the Long Island region.
Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.
