Duties Description Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, the Junior Field Representative assists the Project Manager and/or Field Representative in all aspects of a construction project, assisting in the management of field work, but also involving aspects including, but not limited to, contract administration and monitoring project budgets and schedules. The Junior Field Representative undertakes assignments as directed and works both independently and under the general supervision of project assigned staff.
Essential Functions
Inspect installation of the work on a daily basis.
Assist in coordinating the work of all trades.
Interpret contract plans and specifications.
Schedule and supervise required testing and monitor results.
Attend job meetings, progress meetings and coordination meetings.
Prepare notes and minutes of meetings and coordinate the associated follow-up.
Assist in estimating costs and monitoring the project budget.
Assist in reviewing progress payments.
Assist in evaluating change proposals and preparing change orders.
Assist in evaluating claims.
Assist DASNY Field Representative/Management staff with essential tasks.
Develop and maintain records for the project or program including contract documents, files, logs, lists and other records.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the documentation and implementation of procedures.
Assist with internal controls implementation, review and testing.
Undertake special assignments as directed.
Must adhere to the NYS Information Security Policy Standards established and issued by the Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination. (Standards can be found on the Intranet).

Physical/Mental/Visual Demands
Weekly travel may be required, depending on assignment, using public transportation, DASNY vehicle, rental vehicle or personal vehicle. This travel may include overnight stays at public accommodations and related establishments. Requires exposure to weather and temperature extremes, loud noises, heights (climbing ladders, scaffolding, etc.) and other work safety hazards (chemicals, fumes, etc.). Requires physical mobility (movement from place to place), strength, dexterity and coordination. Requires endurance, concentration and complex and time pressure of decision-making. Requires the ability to see, hear, smell, touch and distinguish colors. Must be available to occasionally work a modified work schedule or extended workday hours.
Work Environment
May be standard office environment or a construction site. Requires the use of one or more of the following: PC, telephone, fax machine, printer, copier, scanner, electronic stapler/hole punch/date stamp, shredder.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field; or
Associate’s degree plus three years relevant experience; or
High School diploma or equivalent plus five years experience in work related to this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field strongly preferred, plus one or more years experience in construction inspection or supervision of construction projects, or a High School diploma plus six years experience in work related to this position. Knowledge of project management systems and scheduling software programs.
