Duties Description The Office of Policy, Planning & Performance is looking to hire interns for each area below:

Thriving Communities/Rural Connect Internship

• Develop outlines and chapters for each Community Action Plan; assist project team in the development of each plan.
• Assist in the development of USDOT Community Work Plans by providing necessary updates and ensuring consistency with USDOT guidelines.
• Assist in overseeing subaward progress for each community by attending and taking notes at Community Action Group (CAG) and community leader meetings.
• Assist project team evaluate subaward progress by developing performance metrics and preparing evaluation materials.
• Support the project team with maintaining thee Thriving Communities Program filing system and overall record keeping.
• Assist Project Manager develop and prepare meeting agendas for various team meetings.

Community-Centered Transportation Planning Internship

• Assist NYSDOT staff with implementing several key planning efforts including NYS Transportation Master Plan 2050, NYSDOT Active Transportation Strategic Plan, etc.
• Assist with the development of some targeted Active Transportation training to build internal capacity (e.g. topics of interest, identify speakers).
• Develop a list of Active Transportation (Bicycle/Pedestrian) Statewide Experts and levels of expertise ratings for self-evaluation (level 1 - basic, level 2 – experience, level 3 – expertise).
• Assist in developing repository of profiles of current Community-Centered Transportation project examples that highlight Active Transportation features or resiliency best practices.
• Assist with improving guidance and design reports to connect to Transportation Master Plan goals and strategies.
• Assist with the development of community engagement guidance and best practices.
• Assist in the development of material to market vision and goals of relevant planning efforts.
• Participate in relevant meetings with NYSDOT staff and other planning partners as needed.

Transportation Electrification Internship

• Assist NYSDOT staff with planning and administration of transportation electrification and electric vehicle charging infrastructure development programs and funding
• Assist NYSDOT staff with collection and regular maintenance of transportation electrification infrastructure data primarily using Microsoft Excel, GIS, and web mapping programs
• Assist NYSDOT staff with the development of reports and analysis related to transportation electrification
• Participate in meetings on transportation electrification topics with NYSDOT staff and external stakeholders
• Other assignments as required by NYSDOT staff

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications Must have completed at least 12 credit hours of college study and be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program.
