Duties Description This Research Scientist 6will at NKI:• Provide scientific direction for single-cell and spatial genomics initiatives, contributing to experimental design, assay implementation, and integrated multi-omic data analyses.
• Develop, optimize, and supervise laboratory workflows for single-cell, single-nucleus, and spatial transcriptomic and epigenomic assays, ensuring high-quality and reproducible data generation.
• Lead development of computational pipelines for large-scale genomics datasets, including scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, scEpiegenome profiling, long-read sequencing, and spatial omics platforms.
• Integrate molecular, clinical, and behavioral data to advance translational psychiatry research and support NKI-NYU collaborative programmes.
• Guide and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including junior laboratory and computational staff, to ensure coordinated delivery of genomics research objectives.
• Generate rigorous analysis outputs, pilot datasets, and related materials that support manuscripts, presentations, and competitive grant submissions.

Minimum Qualifications PhD and seven years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Leadership experience in multi-modal single-cell and spatial genomics programs, with demonstrated integration of transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomic datasets.
• Expertise in generating and analyzing large-scale human, primate and rodent brain single-cell and spatial datasets, with familiarity in tissue workflows relevant to psychiatric and neurodegenerative research.
• Proven ability to design and oversee computational pipelines for complex multi-omic data, incorporating clinical, behavioral, pharmacogenomic, and molecular phenotypes.
• Experience in technology development, benchmarking emerging genomics platforms, and deploying high-throughput sequencing and spatial assays.
• Record of effective leadership in consortium-scale initiatives and coordination of cross-institutional scientific collaborations.
• Ability to produce high-quality preliminary datasets and analytic frameworks that enhance the competitiveness of major federal grant applications.
