Duties Description Under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Director, the Research Scientist 2 will serve as the Quality Assurance Specialist for the Wadsworth Center clinical laboratories that perform clinical testing at three different locations across the Capital District. The Quality Assurance Specialist oversees and maintains responsibility for developing, implementing, and maintaining Quality Assurance for the Wadsworth Center. In addition, they will conduct internal audits, document control, corrective and preventative action tracking, and regulatory readiness. The Quality Assurance Specialist provides centralized coordination and oversight of quality systems across all Wadsworth Center laboratories.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences and three years of post-professional research experience** in an appropriate field.
****Substitutions: master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, and Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences or a related field; two years of relevant experience working in a regulated clinical laboratory (CMS, CLIA, CLEP and/or CAP); working knowledge of clinical quality management systems and the corrective action process; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, online document control software (i.e. MediaLab iPassport, etc.) and clinical laboratory information systems (i.e. EPIC beaker, Cerner, Sunquest, CLIMS, etc.); and excellent organizational, planning, problem solving, time management, communication, multitasking, interpersonal, and listening skills.
Additional Comments Dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may be required. Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
