Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Assistant include, but are not limited to:
• Serving as the first point-of-contact at the front desk of Gantry Plaza State Park Ranger Station, including answering telephones; taking and relaying messages; greeting staff, visitors, and patrons in a friendly and courteous manner; and utilizing a multi-line phone set.
• Reconcile credit card statements and perform accurate data entry and coding across multiple state financial systems.
• Maintain administrative records, calendars, logs, and operational documentation.
• Perform routine office tasks including filing, record management, copying, and general administrative support.
• Maintain and update the park’s permit and event calendar.
• Act as a concierge for permit holders and program partners by checking in on the day of permitted use, placing reservation signage, and confirming arrivals (including follow-up calls when needed).
• Monitor permitted activity in the park, including fields and courts, and report issues to appropriate staff.
• Create and format basic Excel documents, temporary signage, flyers, and simple graphics as needed for park operations, programs, and events.
• Update and maintain informational signage at the Ranger Station and bulletin boards.
• Assist with facilities and office maintenance, including maintaining a clean workstation and office, restocking paper towels, toilet paper and basic supplies.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support park operations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required.
• Prior business office experience and some college studies preferred.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by supervisor.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Must possess strong computer and spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks’ work sites in the New York City Region.
• Must be willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• May be required to report to other facilities throughout the NYC Region on an as-needed basis.
