Duties Description Under the Direction of the Associate Director Information Technology Services 1, the Information Technology Specialist 4 – SG 25 will be assigned to the Information Management Support Group that directly supports the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD’s) Finger Lakes and Western NY regions to include the Main Campuses, DDSO’s and its surrounding offices and community homes. The incumbent will assist in supporting technology initiatives for the Portfolio by providing technical expertise and guidance in all areas of desktop and mobile hardware, Active Directory, Microsoft Technologies, miscellaneous software, general software updates and management.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Review and assign tickets with Zone5 and insure proper ticket closures and resolution.
• Create and maintain reports to provide Executive type overview of Zone5 support
• Support enterprise technology initiatives utilizing technical expertise in the areas of hardware, software, and firmware.
• Assist the agency with reporting needs and data gathering.
• Diagnose/troubleshoot, repair, configure, maintain, deploy and install desktops, mobile devices, printers and software in an Active Directory environment.
• Facilitate and manage the enterprise network utilizing tools for system administration, network management, configuration management, asset management, etc. and technical expertise in the areas of hardware, software, and firmware.
• Participate in configuring, maintaining, deploying, installing and supporting telecommunication equipment. Understand various telecommunication devices and systems such as VOIP, Mobile, Cellular, POTS, etc.
• Identify and resolve unique Level 2, 3 and 4 enterprise issues in helpdesk-based environment.
• Resolve help desk tickets by diagnosing, troubleshooting, referring to specialists, arranging repairs, user education/training, etc.
• Follow up with users and document activities in the ticketing system.
• Collaborate with the user community, co-workers and management to effectively provide problem resolution services.
• Assess users’ technology knowledge and provide education related to proper use of enterprise technology and software through documentation/training materials and/or 1-on-1 instruction.
• Consult with Talent Development staff regarding training options for users in need.
• Oversee the development and maintain documentation pertaining to operating procedures for new technologies.
• 20-30% travel will be required across New York- Western and Finger Lakes Regions. Home office can be based in either Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse
• May be expected to be available during off-shift hours to ensure the continuous operation of computer services.
• Perform a full range of supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
