Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as an Assistant in Continuing Education OR be reachable on the Assistant in Continuing Education eligible list.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking to fill an Assistant in Continuing Education position in the Office of Adult Education. The incumbent will assist the Associate in Continuing Education in overseeing operations of High School Equivalency (HSE) office. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise staff when the Associate in Continuing Education is not in the office;
• Process out-of-state applications to add HSE records to New York State’s database;
• Cover HSE walk-up window as needed and when requested;
• Assist HSE Customer Service phone representatives as needed and when requested;
• Assist HSE Customer Service staff with record requests;
• Run the HSE batch document-print daily;
• Process express record requests;
• Oversee all aspects of HSE test center operations including: train examiners, process vouchers for HSE test center reimbursement, submit and post public testing schedules on the New York State Education Department (NYSED) webpage, maintain and update the test center hierarchy/contact list, maintain the examiner list-serve, and process the three-way test center agreements;
• Review College Credit applications, enter data into HSE College Credit records database, and respond to applicants who have incomplete and denied applications;
• Respond to HSE Accommodations inquiries from the public and referrals to NYSED from CTB/McGraw Hill; and
• Represent the Adult Education Program and Policy office and HSE offic as needed.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent-contingent appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $81,415 through annual performance advances.
