Duties Description Under the direct supervision of the Trades Supervisor (Electrician), SG-14, or their designee, the incumbent will perform or assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and commercial electrical equipment, and primary and secondary electrical infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, repair and installation of panel boxes, control panels, lighting fixtures, generators, motors, and controls, as well as overhead and underground electrical distribution system components. The selected candidate must have an appropriate background with education, knowledge and/or significant experience working with electricity. The incumbent should have good knowledge of, and the ability to operate the basic power tools, hand tools, and equipment related to the electrical trade and utility line work.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess a valid Class A*** Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) that allows the candidate to legally operate commercial vehicles in New York State or obtain one and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule and respond to call-outs outside of their normal schedule.
• Must have good knowledge of, and the ability to operate the basic power tools, hand tools, and equipment related to the electrical trade and utility line work.
• The incumbent must be able to operate or learn how to operate a bucket truck, Timberjack Digger Derrick, and a tracked Altec Digger Derrick.
• Be certified or become certified in Municipal Electric Utilities Association of New York State (MEUA) Lineman Training Program.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

***Under the provision of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• A working knowledge of electricity and verifiable electrical experience.
• Successful completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
