Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager 1, SG-18, the Trades Generalist, SG-12 will be assigned to Taughannock Falls State Park. The incumbent will perform skilled and semi-skilled trades work in the primary trade of carpentry with additional work responsibilities in plumbing, electrical, motor equipment, small engine repair and masonry. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Perform routine carpentry tasks, including framing, finish work, drywall installation, roofing, masonry, window and door installation, and additional construction activities.
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled trades work such as repairing, maintaining, or constructing structural components, fixtures, and equipment.
• Conduct inspections to diagnose issues and determine corrective actions.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, and related infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles necessary to complete assigned tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Operate a variety of driven machinery, including but not limited to: backhoes, skid-steers, dump trucks, garbage trucks, and snowplows.
• Safely fell, limb, buck, and remove hazardous trees, whether standing, lodged, or downed, using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and codes.
• Collaborate with other staff, contractors, and vendors to complete work efficiently.
• Complete work orders, track materials used, and document progress in maintenance systems.
• May supervise subordinate staff or assist with training.
• The incumbent will also be expected to be deployed to perform work during emergency events as directed by the State Emergency Management Operations Center and/or NYS OPRHP management.

Although the work of the position is periodically inspected by the Park Manager, the incumbent is expected to work with considerable independence as is typical of a craftsperson.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in carpentry under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

**If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and must complete OPRHP sawyer training or equivalent within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment. This training will be provided by OPRHP.
• Must possess a valid Class B*** Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) that allows the candidate to legally operate commercial vehicles in New York State or obtain one within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.

***Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The candidate is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
