Duties Description Under the supervision of higher- level personnel, the Park Worker 3’s duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform a variety of administrative duties by assisting with answering the phones, preparing seasonal payrolls, maintaining inventories, and collecting information for work orders.
• Assist in coordinating and executing recreation events conducted at the park.
• Interact with the public, answer visitor questions, and resolve patron complaints.
• Keep inventory of equipment, monitor condition, and schedule/perform repairs.
• Perform assigned park-related duties such as litter removal around the building, cleaning structures, and snow removal.
• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, directing staff, and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
• Work closely with volunteers, the community and other facilities and vendors to assure NYS Parks’ mission is always met.
• Supervise others including assigning and reviewing work, training, and developing employee skills, and evaluating seasonal employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;
OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields:
• Law enforcement or security
• Firefighting
• Emergency Medical Services
• Environmental education or stewardship
• Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation)
• Historic preservation or interpretation
• Landscaping or grounds maintenance
OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;
OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours of college-level coursework from an accredited* college or university;
OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;
OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson

*Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Reassignment Qualifications:
Two (2) years of clerical experience. The candidate must be able to work well under pressure, multitask, be a self?starter, maintain confidentiality, and possess excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel and good typing/computer skills.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be proficient with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Must have the ability to follow directions and communicate with staff, public, and respond to patrons' concerns or complaints in an effective and positive manner.

May include weekends, evenings and holidays. Specific schedule will be discussed at the time of interview.
