Duties Description The Public Information-Content Specialist will assist the Communications Director and Public Information Unit Manager to develop and implement content that, reflecting the voice of the New York State Unified Court System (UCS) leadership, serves to inform the public about UCS programs, policies, and initiatives, helping New Yorkers to understand and engage with their courts. This role offers an opportunity to create impactful content and contribute to initiatives that promote public trust in the judiciary
and foster civic engagement.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist the Communications Director and Public Information Unit Manager to draft and edit clear, engaging content for both external and internal audiences, including news releases, reports, websites, social media, and newsletters, in addition to other public information/storytelling products.
• Assist in managing editorial calendars, including the production schedule for the statutorily mandated Chief Administrative Judge’s Annual Report due each March.
• Collaborate across the Communications Department to ensure accuracy and consistency in messaging, including utilization of multimedia, graphics, and web-based resources.
• Work with the Communications team and UCS internal departments and partners in gathering, fact-checking, and coordinating timely dissemination of information.
• Support the Communications team to develop and implement content strategies to amplify New York State Unified Court System achievements, initiatives, programs, and events in raising awareness of the Court System’s crucial mission, including the various court services and resources that are available to the public.
• Assist in monitoring engagement metrics to improve content effectiveness.
• Provide support in managing incoming media inquiries and emergency messaging as needed.
• Assist in organizing and facilitating news conferences, interviews, and events as needed.
Candidates with exceptional writing, research and editing ability, excellent communication skills, attention to clarity and compliance, knowledge of AP Style and accessibility standards, proficiency in digital platforms, and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines are encouraged to apply.
Experience working in a content/communications capacity in government or a public relations field is preferred as is a familiarity with emerging AI developments and
practices.
Minimum Qualifications One year in the Senior Court Analyst title; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Public or Business Administration from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
