Duties Description Under the direction of the Site Manager at Fort Montgomery State Historic Site, the selected candidate’s duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Assisting with grounds maintenance including mowing, weed whacking, grass and leaf blowing, raking trails, clearing and removing brush, debris and garbage.
• Assisting with cleaning and maintaining the site museum including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning and maintaining restrooms.
• Transporting fuel, supplies, equipment, and trash.
• Assisting with occasional historic ruins stabilization.
• Attending mandatory NY State trainings.
• This position involves working outdoors in variable weather conditions, as well as working independently with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications for this title per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Basic maintenance/groundskeeping experience and familiarity with operation of maintenance equipment is preferred but not required.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor and be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
