Duties Description The Park Worker 3 will report directly to the Park Supervisor 2 , SG-14 and will be assigned to Cayuga Lake State Park. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles, including trucks, loaders, tractors, trailers, and power tools.
• Supervise, train, and provide direction to lower-level staff.
• Assist with emergency response activities.
• Oversee and enforce applicable safety regulations and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Coordinate work assignments with regional supervisors and park managers.
• Assist with landscaping and tree maintenance tasks, including planting, pruning, mowing, and general groundskeeping.
• Perform manual labor, including lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Inspect and maintain areas to ensure they are clean and safe for public use, including trash collection, restroom maintenance, and minor repairs. Report any issues or concerns to supervisory staff.
• May perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks such as carpentry tasks (minor wood replacement and building repairs), plumbing tasks (maintenance of drinking water systems in compliance with the Department of Health guidelines, toilet and faucet repairs, water line repairs and bathroom winterizing), electrical tasks (changing switches and light fixtures, light bulbs, and breakers), masonry tasks (pouring sidewalks and pads), and mechanical repairs (oil changes, sharpening blades, replacing belts and hoses).
• Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, answering questions, providing information, and ensuring a positive experience.
• Participate in the setup and breakdown of park events and activities.
• Perform snow and ice removal during the winter months.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and materials consumed.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Operate regional vehicles and driven machinery for various projects as needed.
• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting and directing staff, and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.

Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;
OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields:
• Law enforcement or security
• Firefighting
• Emergency Medical Services
• Environmental education or stewardship
• Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation)
• Historic preservation or interpretation
• Landscaping or grounds maintenance
OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;
OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours* of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university;
OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;
OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson.

Additional Comments Operating Needs:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts.
• Must have a working knowledge of the safe operation of hand and stationary shop tools.
• Must have the ability to operate a variety of driven machinery.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
• Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and complete OPRHP sawyer training or equivalent within the probationary period.
