Duties Description Hutchings Psychiatric Center (HPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a Registered Dietitian (RD) to serve as a Dietitian 2 supporting nutritional care and food service operations. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, day shift; may require occasional weekend and holiday coverage.
As a Dietitian 2, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, therapeutic, and nutritionally adequate meal service for patients while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and facility standards including:
• Conducting nutrition assessments for patients as ordered or required.
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized nutrition care plans.
• Providing therapeutic diet recommendations based on medical, psychiatric, and behavioral needs.
• Providing nutrition counseling and education to patients and staff.
• Documenting nutrition assessments, interventions, and progress notes in the medical record according to facility policy.
• Assisting with oversight of daily food service operations to ensure safe and efficient meal production and delivery.
• Assisting with infection prevention practices related to food handling and meal service.
• Monitoring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards including HACCP principles.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have:
• Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or
• New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Dietician 2 eligible list.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
