Duties Description This position will function as a working team leader of a cleaning crew by assigning the work, giving instructions, providing assistance and observing the work in progress on a daily basis. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
-Perform a variety of janitorial duties, including cleaning, maintenance and repair work.
-Perform tasks that require medium to heavy physical labor.
-Assist with grounds maintenance activities, including snow removal, lawn mowing, and upkeep of areas including sidewalks, yards, and driveways.
-Safely operate and utilize appropriate tools, equipment, and materials necessary to complete assigned tasks.
-Perform other related duties as assigned under the supervision of the Supervising Janitor.
-Following established procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
-Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for assigned tasks.
-Participating in job-related training and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive:

-Physically able to perform the tasks of the position including, but not limited to, those in the Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
-A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of individuals

As a Janitor, you will perform hands-on cleaning and basic maintenance duties while providing day-to-day leadership to the custodial team, with a focus on campus buildings, grounds, and walkways.
The Janitorial department is part of the Administration & Finance Division, which provides essential services to campus constituents as well as local, state, federal, and international partners.
