Duties Description Duties:
• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, planers, milling and drilling machines to make or repair a variety of metal components and tools.
• Perform skilled machine shop work such as pump and air handler shaft repair and reproduction.
• From specifications or description of part to be produced, plan tools and materials required and the sequence of operations to be performed.
• Select proper materials for the job, lay out stock for machining by measuring, marking dimensions and reference points for machining.
• As appropriate to the machine operated, select and install proper cutting tools, set machine controls to determine sequence of operations, the speed at which the tool or work moves, and the depth of the cut.
• Machines components to specifications and checks accuracy of the work by the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometers, dial indicators and other gauges.
• Retrieve daily assignments and track accountable hours using the AiM work management system. Submit accurate and proper documentation in a timely manner.

Operational Needs:
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.
• Asbestos certification required within 90 days of appointment as well as compliance with all related PESH/OSHA regulations.
• Working knowledge of the mathematics of the machinist trade.
• Ability to use the tools, materials and equipment of the machinist trade.
• Able to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, platform lifts, boom lifts.
• Able to operate a variety of forklifts (OSHA certification provided after appointment).
• Able to lift minimum of 50 lbs. while also having the ability to stand and bend for long periods of time.
• Able to read, interpret blueprints and schematic designs.
• Able to work independently and perform duties at the journeyman level.

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM– 3:00PM

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in the machinist trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program;

OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in the machinist trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
