Duties Description *Will assist in dock installation and removal and Navigation aids placement.
*Will be required to work outside in adverse conditions during the winter.
*Will be required to safely operate boats, trailered equipment, tractors, plow trucks, loaders, chippers, and other machines.
*Work assignments will include cleaning of toilets / bathroom facilities, building of outhouses and picnic tables, minor carpentry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, equipment operation, lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes and shovels and various hand tools.
*Must use proper PPE. Issued clothing and safety gear must be kept clean and presentable.
*Hazardous tree removal.
*Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercraft at time of appointment.
*Barge maintenance to include painting and structural repairs.
Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Transportation needs of this position require use of a state vehicle and adhering to the Department’s Vehicle Policy. You must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for this position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercrafts at time of appointment.
