Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of experience in institutional investing and credit analysis. Preference will be given to candidates who have commenced or obtained their MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credentials. Candidates should be New York State residents or be open to relocating.
Seeking candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• 3+ years experience in credit analysis or security analysis;
• Solid knowledge of accounting and finance;
• Strong financial modeling, quantitative and analytical skills;
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to work well with others; and
• Ability to work well independently and take initiative
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) the Credit Analyst will be responsible for analyzing credits in a number of industries, performing due diligence, modeling and presenting recommendations to the CIO; monitoring credits and assessing relative value based on risk vs. return in a range of different portfolio strategies. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for conducting company specific and industry level fundamental research including the review of legal documentation as the basis for recommendations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Conducting fundamental credit research of investment grade (IG) corporate debt securities; analyzing individual credits as well as trends and themes within assigned industry sectors;
• accAssist in our effort to improve the fundamental analytical framework for the IG credit portfolio;
• Engaging with external parties including company management, sell-side analysts and rating agencies;
• Preparing and presenting write-ups to management and portfolio management teams;
• Assisting in the preparation of reports for senior management
• Assessing the relative value of IG bond investment opportunities by interpretation of capital structures, bond covenants, market drivers of bond performance and the value of available alternatives;
• Maintaining an active dialogue, recommending investments across a range of portfolios (with e.g. different risk appetites and possible restrictions), defending those recommendations in both oral and written communication with the investment department;
• Performing ongoing due diligence and monitoring of portfolio positions and key credits in assigned industries, and communicating updates in a timely fashion (orally and in writing) to management;
• Keeping PM’s and management apprised of risk issues related to the credit portfolios.
