Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REASSIGNMENT: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Professional Education.
§70.1 Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Veterans Education Program Representative 3 AND must have a master's degree AND five years experience of either:
• professional level administrative or educational experience in a college, university, education agency, or professional association;
• professional level administrative or educational experience in an agency or organization having oversight, regulatory, or coordinative responsibility for higher or professional education; or
• professional, administrative, or education experience in credentialing or discipline of professional licensees.
Three years of this experience must have been related to the regulation of licensed professionals in such areas as training; testing or supervising professionals; or to the development, review, evaluation, or offering of professional education programs.
§70.4 Transfer: Candidates may be eligible for transfer to Associate in Professional Education if they have standing on the Associate in Professional Education list AND have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-24 or higher.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates who are reachable on the Associate in Professional Education eligible list may be considered for appointment.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $99,585 based on annual performance advances.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Professions (OP) is seeking to fill an Associate in Professional Education position within the Office of Psychology, Massage Therapy and Clinical Laboratory Technology. Under the direction of the Executive Secretary, the Associate in Professional Education will be responsible for the review and preparation of charters and programs for Psychoanalytic/Psychotherapy Institutes for approval by both OP and the New York State Board of Regents. The duties of this position will also include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Review and approve information submitted for licensure within the profession of psychology and communicate with applicants regarding deficiencies;
• Review and approve licensure by endorsement of applications for the profession of massage therapy;
• Conduct research on laws, rules and regulations in preparation for Board meetings or to respond to specific questions from OP, other NYSED departments, the general public, and others;
• Prepare information for legislative comments;
• Train new staff in relation to office procedures and computer related functions; and
• Respond to complex communications via telephone and e-mail.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
