Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a plant science, horticulture, agriculture, environmental or natural science and five years of experience in supervising or implementation of major agricultural or horticultural program initiatives or special projects.
Duties Description The Invasive Species Coordinator will be responsible for the management and coordination of the Department's program and efforts to ensure that the State has a comprehensive and well-coordinated system for preventing and managing the many ecological, economic and human health threats posed by invasive agricultural pests. This individual will integrate invasive species program goals into the department inspection and survey programs within the Division of Plant Industry. The successful candidate will represent the department and division at the New York State Invasive Species Advisory Committee. They will work closely with colleagues in the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Bureau of Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health, the Regional Partnerships for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISMS) and other entities interested in management of invasive species. The candidate will work with several computer applications and should have knowledge of the agricultural industry and plant insects and diseases.
